The Tide Rushes Over is a game about surviving against impossible odds. You will play as characters trapped somewhere with no escape and an inexorable threat. It could be natural, human, or supernatural, but all that matters is that there is no escape. For instance, you could attempt to survive a hurricane, a war, or a zombie apocalypse.

Play resolves in high tide and low tide sections, which have their own rules.

The long-term goal is to keep the Stronghold around as long as possible. At some point determined by the Commander, the crisis may end. Until then, the tide rushes over you.
