bit.CASCADE is a block-dropping game where you drop clumps of 1-4 blocks to fill a grid.

I wanted to have something fast-paced to play while vibing to music, and also had an idea for a different type of block-dropping game designed around going fast first and foremost (like Tetris) while still caring about the blocks that you place (like Columns, which I played more than Tetris as a kid).

Scoring is based on the number of unique block types in each row when it is cleared. Blocks decay over ten seconds, making it essential to move quick. Not all block types are equally common, so if you just try to mash you won't get as far as you would if you think about where your blocks are going, though putting stuff down quick is key.

In standard play, you have sixty seconds to achieve a consistent score rate per 15 seconds greater than a threshold.

Each stage gets harder. I've only cleared to Stage 9, which perhaps says something about my skill.

Supports keyboard (WASD to move blocks, Q/E to rotate, and space to hard drop) and controller (left-stick/dpad to move blocks, X/B buttons to rotate, A to hard drop).

This project was vibecoded using Deepseek-V4-Pro in about three hours. If anyone wants to do anything with it, including extending/fixing issues, building on the idea, etc. be my guest. I just found it amusing enough to figure it's worth sharing.

Alternatively, if someone thinks of a really cool idea, I'm open to trying to revise this further.
